The opening night of Boston Ballet's George Balanchine's Jewels: Emeralds; Rubies; Diamonds was a vibrant, exquisite, elegant evening. It was an ethereal experience: the music, the choreography, the dancing, the costumes. Jewels is a brilliant overview of ballet history and style, evoking three cities: Paris, New York and St. Petersburg.
